“Anti-corruption is the dilemma of the 21st century,” says Nicola Bonucci, the Director of Legal Affairs for the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. This morning, participants in our ongoing anti-corruption course were fortunate to hear Mr. Bonucci deliver the conference’s keynote speech. His speech focused on developing strategies to combat anti-corruption by examining the drivers, elements, conditions, and actors of anti-corruption.
In addition to discussing individual strategies for prosecuting corrupt institutions and actors, the speech delved into the role anti-corruption agencies, governmental organizations, law enforcement, and even the companies themselves can or should play in the ongoing struggle to reduce bribery and crime in the growing global economy. The speech was followed by brief comments from CEELI founder and Chair Homer Moyer and course faculty members Goran Klemenčič and Mark Mendelsohn.
