DECEMBER 8, 15, 2020
17:00 CET
This two lecture series provided an overview of the multiple ways investigative journalists interact with law enforcement. The discussion focuses on the legal procedures governing these interactions including those that are designed to protect the right of free speech and the rights of the accused. Our faculty composed of former law enforcement agents and prosecutors used real-world examples from their experiences to give further context to the issue.

The course covered topics included
- How your reporting may be used by law enforcement to open or further a case
- Requesting validation or commentary on a report
- Seeking information from law enforcement about an ongoing criminal matter
- Journalist or civil activist safety guidelines when publishing information about a crime or a person(s) who has committed a crime.
